Silletera History Tour
Learn on this tour the history of the silletera and how during the Colony, when some mountain passes did not allow the use of pack animals, the silleteros made possible the exchange of products and the mobilization of travelers; His skill consisted in bearing the burden for long days behind his back. They were responsible for protecting the lives of those who settled behind them, and were described as helpful and very talkative individuals.
On this tour, we’ll take you through the history and culture of the famous silleteras, the women who carry the colorful floral arrangements at Medellín’s traditional Flower Fair.
During the tour, we’ll explore the beautiful scenery of the Arvi Nature Reserve, while learning about the history and importance of the Silletera culture. You’ll visit some of the oldest farms in the region, where you can get an up-close look at the process of growing and producing flowers, and learn about traditional flower arrangement techniques.
