Tour to Guatape and zocalos
The opening of roads was a hard task for the Indians and day laborers. With just a few tools, they built roads that were decisive for the population of Guatapé, a hamlet that was halfway between Puerto Nare and Medellín. It was the point of arrival and departure of muleteers, and through which trade entered the entire Antioquia region.
From the city of Medellin we will start our tour by visiting the majestic Peñón de Guatapé, a huge rock formation that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We will climb the 700 steps to the top of the Rock, where we will be able to take spectacular pictures and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Guatapé reservoir.
Next, we’ll visit the charming village of Guatapé, known for its colorful facades and plinths decorated with beautiful relief designs. We’ll take a stroll through the main square and its surroundings, and you’ll have free time to explore the city at your own pace, visit the craft shops, or try some of the delicious local dishes.
After lunch, we’ll head to the Guatapé Dam, where we’ll take a boat ride on the reservoir, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. During the tour, you’ll learn about the history of the dam and its importance to the region.
